Spreading Rate 15-16 sq. metres/litre Drying Time Surface dry in 2-4 hours; recoatable overnight. Uses Suitable for the high gloss decoration and preservation of interior and exterior surfaces. Preparation New and previously painted surfaces should be dry and free from loose and flaking material, dirt, grease, wax and polish. See specifications for appropriate primers and undercoat. Application Stir well before use. Supplied for use by brush or roller, may be thinned with up to 5 percent white spirit for conventional or airless spray application. Cleaning White Spirit or Turps Sub. SPECIFICATIONPRIMINGNew WoodAfter knotting prime as recommended. All Softwoods. For preservative pre-treated timber ensure excess solvent has fully evaporated before priming. For interior and exterior, use Macpherson's Universal Primer. For exterior use only, prime with Macpherson's Wood Primer. For interior use only prime with Macphersons Wood Primer or Acrylic Primer/Undercoat. All Hardwoods One coat of Macpherson's Aluminium Wood Primer. Metal Remove all corrosion and mill scale, dirt, grease etc. to produce a clean metallic surface. For exterior use, and where conditions are severe, at least two coats of the appropriate primer may be required. Iron and Steel One coat of Macpherson's Zinc Phosphate Metal Primer. Aluminium and Non-Ferrous Metals One coat of Macpherson's Zinc Phosphate Metal Primer or Universal Primer. New Galvanised Metal Sheeting For exterior use allow new sheeting to weather for 6 months before priming with Universal Primer. The weathered surface must be de-greased and washed down to remove zinc salts before priming. Old Weathered Galvanised Metal Sheeting Wash down the surface with white spirit then with detergent solution to remove zinc salts. Apply Universal Primer. Concrete, Brickwork, Asbestos Substitute, or Plaster These surfaces must be completely dry and free from efflorescence. Apply one coat of Macpherson's Alkali Resisting Primer or for interior use only, one coat of Acrylic Primer/Undercoat. For use on dry interior aged surfaces as a binding primer after the removal of loose or flaking material, one coat of Macpherson's Primer Seal is recommended. Hardboard and Plasterboard One coat of Macphersons Acrylic Primer/ Undercoat. Distempered Surfaces Cementitious paints and non-washable distemper must be completely removed before painting. Washable distemper should be prepared by removing all loose and flaking materials and powdery deposits and one coat of Macpherson's Primer Seal applied. Previously Painted Surfaces Prepare and spot prime with the appropriate Macpherson's Primer all exposed substrates. Plastic P.V.C. rainwater goods must be thoroughly de-greased, abraded and dry before the application of two or more coats of Gloss paint. Primers and undercoats are not recommended. When decoration of other plastic material is necessary our Technical Service Department should be consulted. Decoration of some plastic materials can lead to embrittlement of the plastic. Do not use on polystyrene tiles. Use Macpherson's emulsion. FINISHINGAfter priming apply one or two coats of Macpherson's High Opacity Undercoat and one coat Macpherson's Gloss Finish. Allow overnight drying between coats. For exterior use or where a more durable finish is required a second coat of Macpherson's Gloss Finish is recommended in preference to a second undercoat. Use Only in well ventilated areas. In case of insufficient ventilation during spraying, wear suitable respiratory equipment. Do not breathe vapour/spray. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. In case of contact with skin, wash immediately with soap and water or a recognised skin cleaner. Keep away from sources of ignition. No smoking. Keep Out of reach of children. |
