Spreading Rate 14-15 sq. metres/litre. Drying Time Surface dry in 4-12 hours according to temperatures, recoatable overnight. Uses Suitable for use under gloss paints for internal and external conditions. Preparation New and previously painted surfaces should dry and free from loose and flaking material, dirt grease, wax and polish and primed with the appropriate Macpherson primer. Application Stir well before use. Supplied for use by brush, roller, may be thinned with up to 5 percent white spirit for conventional or airless spray application. Cleaning White Spirit or Turps Substitute SPECIFICATIONPRIMINGNew WoodAfter knotting prime as recommended. Softwoods. For interior and exterior, use Macpherson's Universal Primer. For exterior use only, prime with Macpherson Wood Primer. For interior use only, prime with Macpherson Wood Primer or Acrylic Primer/Undercoat. Hardwoods. One coat of Macpherson's Aluminium Wood Primer. Metal Remove all corrosion and mill scale, dirt, grease etc. to produce a clean metallic surface. For exterior use where conditions are severe, at least two coats of primer may be required. Iron and Steel One coat of Macpherson's Zinc Phosphate. Aluminium and Non-Ferrous Metals One coat of Macphersons Zinc Phosphate Metal Primer or Universal Primer. New Galvanised Metal Sheeting For exterior use allow new sheeting to weather for 6 months before priming with Universal Primer. The weathered surface must be de-greased and washed down to remove zinc salts before priming. Old Weathered Galvanised Metal Sheeting Wash down the surface with white spirit then with detergent solution to remove zinc salts. Apply Universal Primer. Concrete, Brickwork, Asbestos Substitute, or Plaster These surfaces must be completely dry and free from efflorescence. Apply one coat of Macpherson Alkali Resisting Primer. For use on dry interior aged surfaces as a binding primer after the removal of loose or flaking material, one coat of Macpherson Primer Seal is recommended. Hardboard and Plasterboard One coat of Macpherson's Acrylic Primer/ Undercoat. Distempered Surfaces Cementitious paints and non-washable distemper must be completely removed before or painting. Washable distemper should be prepared by removing all loose and flaking material and powdery deposits and one coat of Macpherson's Primer Sealer applied. Previously Painted Surfaces Prepare and spot prime with the appropriate Macpherson primer all exposed substrates. FINISHINGAfter priming apply one or two coats of Macpherson's High Opacity Undercoat and one Macpherson's Gloss Finish. Allow overnight drying between coats. For exterior use or where a more durable finish is required a second coat of Macpherson's Gloss Finish is recommended in preference to a second undercoat.PRECAUTIONSFLAMMABLE Paint product UN No. 1263. Use only in well ventilated areas. In case ot insufficient ventilation during spraying, wear suitable respiratory equipment. Do not breathe vapour spray. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. In case of contact with skin, wash immediately with soap and water or a recognised skin cleaner. Keep away from sources of ignition. No smoking. Keep out of reach of children. |
