APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

SURFACE PREPARATION
Surface must be clean and free of dirt, scaling paint, loose wallpaper or wallpaper paste. Test all old painted or varnished surfaces for adhesion by making an X with a razor or knife and placing a section of Scotch tape over, pressing down with thumb. After 30 seconds yank the tape off (do not pull but yank the tape). If the old paint or varnish comes off on the tape, the paint must be removed. Never paint over any painted surface that fails this test.
Fill cracks and nail holes with Ready Patch spackling compound; sand smooth when dry. Sand all new wood with fine sandpaper and remove dust. Remove oil, grease or wax with mineral spirits. Clean painted areas with a solution of 2 cups of household ammonia per gallon of water and rinse well. Remove existing mildew with household bleach instead of ammonia. Perma White is not designed to kill existing mildew but will prevent future growth on the paint film if properly applied (2 coats). NOTE: Never mix bleach with ammonia. It may cause death.

TINTING
May be tinted with most "universal" tinting colors up to 6 fluid ounces per gallon.

THINNING
Perma White is designed to be used as is. If thinning is necessary, use only water and no more than 10 percent by volume.

APPLICATION
Perma White is designed to be applied in 2 coats for maximum durability. The first coat primes and seals the surface and provides a base for the topcoat. The topcoat completes the sealing process while providing mildew protection and scrub resistance. NOTE: Covering Perma White with any other topcoat will ruin the finish's mildew-proof properties.

Brush or Roller
Use clean, synthetic bristle brush. Flow product on and brush out. For rolling use a short nap roller.

DRYING TIME
Perma White will be dry and ready to recoat in 2 hours. Apply second coat 2 hours or longer after first. Low temperature, high humidity and poor ventilation will increase drying time. If used above shower walls, wait at least 24 hours before using shower. Do not scrub the new coating for seven days.

CLEANING EQUIPMENT
Brushes and rollers should be cleaned immediately after use with soap and water. Spray equipment should be flushed with water followed by mineral spirits. Wipe up spatters before they dry. If Perma White dries before you can cleanup, use a heavy-duty ammoniated household cleaner and rinse with water.
