J H Ratcliffe's Transparent Oil GlazeJ H Ratcliffe's Transparent Oil Glaze is a linseed oil based medium for producing a glaze or scumble by the addition of stainers for broken colour effects such as stippling, rag rolling, dragging, toning and wiped effects as well as graining and marbling. It is not intended for use as a clear protective film. Due to its traditional formulation it has a natural tendency to yellow slowly on ageing and in conditions of darkness, or, yellow rapidly at elevated temperatures (e.g. radiators, hot water pipes).Use Ratcliffe's Kolorit Universal Stainers to tint, or other good quality stainers such as artists oil colours, but it is advised to avoid the lower cost artists oil colours. You should ensure that any stainer is suitable, lightfast and unaffected by acid conditions (as the glaze medium is slightly acidic). Note: See technical data sheet for more information.
