Softener Brush - Pure Badger
Our Badger Softener brush is hand crafted in the United Kingdom to the highest standards of quality using only the finest pure badger bristle and high quality hardwood handle. This Badger Softener will give many years of excellent service when used and cleaned with care. The Badger Softener is used to soften and blend coloured glazes for sophisticated, decorative painting techniques, such as marbling and wood graining. It is particularly necessary for creating exotic finishes such as Tortoiseshell, Lapis Lazuli, Porphyry, and for creating the fine and blended lines seen in Burr Walnut, Burnt Elm, feathered Mahogany and RosewoodStroke the glaze back and forth in one direction with the tips of the bristles just tickling the surface. Once a direction of glaze appears, stroke the surface at 90° to the first direction. Repeat this all over the work to produce a soft tonal effect.
Immediately after use, wash the Badger Softener well in cool soapy water, using hard bar soap. Work the soap into a lather throughout the bristles to condition them. Rinse and hang the brush to dry. Please note: Acrylics dry quickly, keep bristles wet while in use. Clean hardened brush with denatured alcohol (Methylated Spirits).
Available in 38mm (1.5 inch), 50mm (2 inch), 75mm (3 inch) and 100mm (4 inch) widths.
