Polyvine Decorators Varnish is a clear water-borne acrylic coating manufactured using a modern formulation. Use to seal, protect and decorate a wide range of interior substrates including wood, stone, brick, plaster, emulsions, wallpapers (not vinyl) and decorative paint finishes.
A tough, abrasion resistant coating, Polyvine Decorators Varnish is water and heat resistant, quick drying, virtually odourless and particularly easy to use and apply. It's modern formulation bonds really well to most surfaces, infact it bonds so well we think the Dead Flat finish produces a really good etched glass effect when used directly onto glazed windows (you'll need to conduct your own tests to satisfy yourself of this, as the manufacturer doesn't state it can be used on glass).
Apply 2-3 coats of Polyvine Decorators Varnish to sound, prepared surfaces using a synthetic SRT paint brush, or by conventional spray, or high volume low pressure spray. Roller application is not recommended. Stir well before and during use. On porous surfaces you can thin up to 10% with clean water to satisfy porosity.
Theoretical coverage 15-20 square meters per litre, this may vary depending on the porosity and profile of the substrate. Drying time approximately 15 minutes - 1 hour. Recoatable within approximately 2-4 hours minimum. Full cure is achieved in 5-7 days. These times are based on a temperature of 20°C, normal relative humidity and good drying conditions. Do not apply if temperatures are below 10°C, especially in areas of low ventilation.
Care must be taken when overcoating dark colours with Dead Flat as a thick application can appear milky. Do not use over uncured oil/solvent-borne coatings. When used on brick or stone, do not allow the coating to pool in cracks or crevices (this will dry cloudy). Protect from frost and extremes of temperature.
Polyvine Decorators Varnish is available in 2 litre sizes in Dead Flat and Satin finishes only.
